I'm back from Aspen, a wonderful weekend with my husband, sigh… On the drive home, I started thinking about how proud I was of my efficient packing/outfits...yep, these are the thoughts that consume my complex mind during down time. It occurs to me, that how I packed/what I wore this weekend, is handy information for all of my Eye'ers out there looking to getaway before the ground freezes.
A list of 10 (technically 11) simple yet necessary items:
1. Pashmina
2. Cashmere sweater
3. Sunglasses
4. Riding boots
5. 2, long-sleeve t-shirts (one dark, one light)
6. Dark wash, skinny jean
7. Leather jacket OR any nice blazer
8. One statement piece of jewelry
9. The one pair of chic pants that you love to wear (for evening)
10. A chunky heel or bootie
Now, obviously this list does not include necessary beauty items or unmentionables, so don't go taking this list literally and forgetting your toothpaste.
With these items, I thee suggest:
Travel/Friday night outfit:
-Cashmere sweater paired with the skinny jeans and riding boots, accessorized with your blazer/leather jacket.
Saturday exploring:
- Light, long sleeve t-shirt, skinny jeans, riding boots and your go-to coat, paired with your most fabulous sunglasses and a fun, casual upswept hair.
Saturday Evening:
- Dark long sleeve t-shirt, evening pants, statement jewelry under your leather jacket/blazer, anchored by your bootie or heels.
Sunday breakfast/travel home:
-Layer a long-sleeved t-shirt under your cashmere sweater, make a fabulous knot with your pashimina. Throw those worn-in jeans back on with your riding boots, put your hair in a bun and hide behind those fabulous shades for a comfy ride home!
The key to packing light for weekend travel, is packing classic, staples and re purposing them with bold accessories and creative hair. If you don’t mind a double wear of some items, I promise your suitcase and spirit will be wonderfully light!
