Fallin' Part 3: The Shirt Off His Back

Clothes have always had a greater meaning to me beyond aesthetics. My clothes often tell a story, have a specific meaning or remind me of a time in my life. Awww, that's so sweet I almost cried!

Today's lesson in Fallin' (my official term transitioning your wardrobe from hot to cool) is when you get an inkling to cover up, do it with loose cotton and fabrics that breathe...Maybe a sneak peek into his closet is in order.

I decided to pair the ever-popular colored, skinny jean with my husband's old Hugo Boss tuxedo shirt! He's lost about 30lbs so it doesn't fit him anymore and without asking I've assumed it as StyleEye property.

The cut of a mens shirt is usually just long and loose enough to be casual but if draped properly on your person, can look like it was meant for you. Eyer's with men over 6'4, this may not apply to you, and those with a stubby hubby's keep reading.

3 quick tips for wearing his shirt:

1. Always roll the sleeves

2. Leave the two-three top buttons open, then fold the lapel and bring the shirt back a bit on your shoulders

3. A belt is NOT necessary when you stick the main rule, which is pair with a skinny/tight bottom

For my single ladies, this could be a good way to pick up guys in bars, just ask them to take their shirt off so you can try it on! Tell em' StyleEye sent you.

Fallin' Part 2: Here a Pleat, there a Pleat Everywhere a Pleat Pleat

I know I keep saying this, but this maxi IS one of my most favorite pieces! I tried this dress on at American Apparel one day and as funky as it looked on the hanger, it is as though some chick in LA sewed it precisely for my ridiculous, too-much self.

I rocked the above to our 50 Shades of Grey book club a while back. Was I tad overdressed? Probably. BUT, you know what I'm thinking? I'm thinking this dress was made for fall! Don't hold me to that when I wear it again in February with moon boots, but I'm pretty sure September is the right month for a kinda-sheer, pleated, maxi dress coming out party! (I'm sending out a save the date)

The takeaway of this post is simple so I'll just get to it: wear your maxi's with sweaters, cardigans, blazers, anything you want to put on top to make this piece more crispy-weather-friendly.

I'm ready people! I'm ready for a temperature below 95 degrees, and I'm ready to start outfitting my person accordingly.

BUT not so fast…It's not quite time for those alpaca sweaters just yet. This week we are discussing how you can start transitioning your summer pieces into ensembles that will have you ready for that first sip of apple cider and various pumpkin-related activities. 

Today I paired my most favorite item in my closet right now, the Argentine leisure cover up, with American Apparel cutoffs, a Forever 21 100% silk top (thank God I didn't sweat through it) and python clogs from Sole Society.  

Here's the thing about the thing…So, the cover up is flowy and sheer keeping it appropriate for summer months, but the length gives you the feeling that you are starting to cover up just a tad more than you would if you were living on Mars.

The clogs are a good transition shoe because they are not a sandal, but not quite a bootie - I like to call them my booshoes.  

So, if you are looking for a swigity-switch-up on the tanks and the cutoffs and the sandals, wear this exact outfit;-) ORRR, start incorporating some light-weight fall items into your look when you are going to the movies/any air-conditioned, happy place.
