Dressing Room Chronicles - Absolute Top Shop

I waded my way through the main floor of Top Shop this weekend, I was anxious to be on the right coast to see what style EyeTems are playing on the main stage.

I was up to my knees in pixie dust and unicorn tears in the SoHo store. (For reference, pixie dust and unicorn tears are the birth parents of glitter.)

Here are some practical glitter get ups that any Eye'er can rock.

From left to right:

1. How about a brocade pair of shorts with a chunky knit? My friend who was with me when I picked this stared at me with crazy eyes, BUT I think it works for that fun night out when starts to get chilly but your knees still need to breathe.

2. The glitter top and skinny jeans is an old stand-by. We've been wearing this outfit since the dawn of time, I'm pretty sure Nefertiti invented this trend at a pyramid, circuit party.

3. The pixie dust party dress. Feel free to wear this one everywhere. I'm pretty sure it's appropriate for late night runs to the pharmacy OR a breakfast date with Prince.

However you slice it or dice it, sparkles are this seasons staple. If your not shining...well, the unicorns will cry, and you'll have that on your conscience.

Dressing Room Chronicles: Ann & Me

I was very impressed with Ann Taylors Fall 2012 Look Book. Truth be told, I don't really wear biz cas anymore. As a style blogger with no real responsibilities, I could be in a potato sack every day and you'd never know;-)

While Ann Taylor's business chic doesn't necessarily apply to my lifestyle, the line showcases several pieces that are closet must-haves for most stylista's.

Key items at Ann to be excited about; anything cheetah print, outerwear and every accessory in the joint.

Here are my comments on each look from left to right:

(I styled the first two exactly as the look book featured them)

1. Cheetah jeans + bow top = slightly busy. I loved the bow top, I'd like the jeans to be skinnier at the ankle, but consider them great stand alone pieces. 

2. Cheetah sift + bow belt = C to the U to the T to the E! A great piece for the working girl. Choose a belt that is a tad smaller and place it at your high waste. The way I'm wearing it is too low and cutting up my body.

3. Striped, silk coat + mustard sweater + berry skinny jeans = ready for fall in Hyannis Port. This coat is a little slice of striped heaven and these jeans where cut to perfection.

4. Black, zipper detail shift = pretty much amazingly, perfect goodness. I would wear this a million ways to a million places for a million days straight, literally.

Dressing Room Chronicles: Bright ideas

 

I must admit, for as much as I'm digging the tsunami of neon hitting the style scene, I wondered if I was really capable of pulling it off. Turns out, with the right spray tan this look is kind of fetching!

I got a little creative in the dressing room as I was not there to buy but to experiment. But I must say, the fancy pants paired with the neon was almost preppy in it's affect! 

Two bright colors paired together can be as tricky as walking in flip flops in the rain, but my advice is to try it all on and pair what works best for your coloring. 

Shout out to Neiman Marcus for providing such a delicious buffet of brights, and to DVF for making these pants!
