Okay, so today not quite as cray! Fall 2013 is the official "anything goes" season for dressing your person.
Highlights include Kate Spade going urban prep, Rebecca Minkoff giving us a peek into the ultimate stylista's (with the endless budget) closet...BUT, Helmut Lang sang sweet, sweet, beautiful, fashion music on the second day of NYFW.
I'm not sure if you remember your first "high-end" designer reckoning (The Gap doesn't count). Helmut Lang (after Todd Oldham) was mine.
I babysat for a football player's wife, and one night in the summer of 98', she wore this amazing asymmetrical, jersey cocktail dress to an event. Upon her leaving, I was all, "WOW, did you get that at The Gap?" And she was all, "No, I got it in NY, let me look, Helmoot Laaang?" And it was in that magical moment that I became hooked on this alleged Helmoot!
Today, 15 years later, Lang presented us with the quintessentially modern, O.G. fashionista's wardrobe staples. (O.G. for you rap novice's is "Original Gangsta.") I'm not using "gangsta" in it's literal interpretation, it's simply a metaphor...whatever, if you don't get it go back on facebook and we can reconvene next week.
Helmut Lang is mensa when it comes to shapes, cuts and textile smash-ups. Lang creates simply chic pieces that give you "I can't wait to wear that tomorrow," insomnia.
You want a mosaic, leather tee? He's got you! Wool bomber with leather trim anyone? Step right up to the runway! Bold print shift for you safer, style mavens? Don't worry, Helmut Lang's got you covered, literally.
The ease, details and use of textiles in Helmut Lang's Fall 2013 collection is like a Christmas miracle. Every modern woman should own a piece (or anything resembling them) in their wardrobe this fall!
