It's my mission to bring the latest trends to my Eye'ers and make them feel that they too can rock runway inspired trends!
I love relaying tips that I've learned along the way, and I'm excited that my very fashionable friends have agreed to help me out in my pursuit to bring high-fashion ideas to true-blue style fans!
Today my style soul mate, Tessa, has agreed to share with us how she uses color blocking as a fabulous night out/holiday party look!
Tessa tells us " I always feel the cutest when color blocking." And we think we know why, because it always looks bold and anyone can look first-class sporting this trend.
The key to color blocking for beginners is to use black to break up the statement; it will ease you into the artistic expression.
Try doing what Tessa has done here; utilize outer ware as the main statement, then accent with an accessory. A bright colored jacket anchors the technique in a striking way and the red belt breaks up the monotony of an otherwise clean party dress.
When color blocking, try to pair colors in their similar hues, i.e.: pastels with pastels accented with grays, jewel tones on jewel tones with black, your look should read like a story not a page out of a schizophrenics diary.
Here are some other examples of Tessa color blockin rockin!
Please feel free to post questions and we will give you all the tips you need to be a fearless blocker!
I looooove the first look! That yellow jacket is pretty fierce. I need to remember to put these types of looks together more often. I own all of the pieces to colorblock, I just forget to put them together in a coordinated way;) Thanks for the reminder.
